I entered art school with a passion for drawing and illustration, and am largely influenced by Japanese popular culture.
I developed a self-portrait character during project critiques that I would use to visually express my inner thoughts and feelings.
As a final project for Letterpress, I developed a calendar utilizing my illustrated character to embody each month. The physical version for the first 3 years of my calendar were letterpresses, each made with black ink on white cardstock paper.

This illustrated character later developed into starring in a storybook. I researched different types of fables and myths in Japanese history, ultimately using my character to depict each tale.
